This song is dedicated to the scientist de Selby – a character in the footnotes of „The Third Policeman”, a novel by Flann O’Brian. Unfortunately, his selfless research into the physical nature of darkness has only survived as a marginal occurrence and nowadays is nothing more than a cause for amusement among sharp tongued individuals.
